Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt Cheats?

Usain Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter who holds world and Olympic records in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, with times of 9.69 seconds and 19.30 seconds, respectively. He is the first man in history to break both world records at one Olympics, and the first man to win both the 100 and 200 meters events at the same Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984. His name and achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname “Lightning Bolt”.

Such dominate performance is cause for some to speculate about possible cheating by Usain Bolt. Bolt has denied taking performance-enhancing drugs and has not failed a drug test. Yet, his coach acknowledges, it will be impossible for Bolt to avoid skepticism given the sport’s clouded history. A number of Olympic champions, world champions and record holders have been stripped of their sprint medals, records and reputations, including Ben Johnson, Marion Jones, Justin Gatlin, Tim Montgomery and Kelli White.

Usain Bolt CHEATed in the Olympics
Chester Cheater

Usain Bolt competes for Jamaica, a country without a random drug testing policy. Drug tests are scheduled in advance and separated by months. This explains Usain Bolt’s superman like performances. Recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated, Carl Lewis had this to say about Bolt, “When people ask me about Bolt I say he could be the greatest athlete of all-time. But for someone to run 10.03 one year and 9.69 the next, if you don’t question that in a sport that has the reputation it has right now, you’re a fool. Period.” It sounds like one of the greatest athletes of all time is skeptical of Bolt’s performance. Lewis questions the Jamaican sprinting program in general, including the women, “Veronica Campbell-Brown lives in the United States and has been transparent and consistent. She won the worlds last year in the 100 meters and this year can’t even make the (Jamaican) team. Are you going to tell me that shouldn’t be questioned?” Lewis goes on to say, “People forget that I was the first one to speak out about Ben [Johnson], and I got crucified. A year later, I was a prophet. The athletes have to say, ‘No, this isn’t right.’ They know who’s on it. They need to step up.” Carl Lewis knows track and sprinting better than anyone, if he doesn’t trust it, neither should you.

Usain Bolt BEAT his competition in the Olympics
Billy Beater

Usain Bolt is a modern marvel of sports. He has set world records, and has raised the bar in the sport of sprinting. He has done so legally and cleanly. He has repeatedly been tested, including during the Olympics and he has come up clean every time. Bolt is 6′5″ and built for speed. His long stride allows him to cover more ground than his competitors, which gives him an advantage. It is similar to the physical advantages that Michael Phelps has. These advantages are natural, and not part of a doping regimen. The Jamaican Observer has an entire list of reasons that Usain Bolt and other Jamaican sprinters run fast, and none of them include cheating. Usain Bolt beat his competitors in the Olympics and is an International hero.

So what do you think, did Usain Bolt CHEAT, or did he BEAT his competitors?

So what are the Jamaicans going to say on Sunday is Usain Bolt’s name comes out among the Olympians to be Disqualified? When the IOC meets tomorrow to discuss additional testing, if Usain Bolt’s name is there, will Jamaicans say he was set up, or will you admit your hero is a cheater?

Right I just want you to think about this, I am not implying he is cheating this is just a question I am asking to you all.

Ben Johnson only ran 9.79 seconds (Johnson)=Cheat, he was using Steroids for over 7 years during his career so he was pumped up on drugs to the max yet could only run 9.79? Usain bolt comes along running 9.69 effortlessly a huge drop in time, No drugs and clean. Could you honestly tell me that it is possible that for an athlete to cheat for 7 years on performance ENHANCING drugs (Virtually a man with rockets on his feet) Vs a man with just natural ability, that a natural guy could win?

Its only a question I’m not pointing fingers its just understandable why people would be questioning him.

Also Usain bolts coach says Bolt doesn’t take any supplementation and doesn’t even dare take Vitamin C tablets….Hmmm thats hard to believe If you wanted the best out of you Legally

    Bob Says:

According to Wikipedia, “The official language of Jamaica is English.” So what happened? Of course Wikipedia also states this, “The Jamaica national bobsled team was once a serious contender in the Winter Olympics.” So maybe it isn’t the most reliable source?

after reading his the cheater article as a jamaica who has been seeing the progression on usain bolt from he was 15 at our boys and girls champs in jamaica i have been forced to conclude that lewis and your logics is nonesence. at 16 this young man ran 20.28 in a 200 and 45.13 in a 400 meters all without any competition. at 17 he became the fastest ever junior and at 19 after a year of injury became the fastest ever jamaican at 200 at 19.79.are we saying that this young man is taking drugs from he is 16 look at the progression.

in the 100 he did not start running this event competitively until this year.he ran 10.03 on a grass track hand timed.which any track athelete knows is severly skewed.his follow up race on the fast track at kingston was 9.76 so really his first competitive 100 meters was in fact that time and he did it easily once again with no competition.so 9.69 easily with his 41 strides which he needs is nothing.

on the subject of carl lewis though in 1988 he was cleared of a positive test sample by the US olympic association we tend to forget that when we discuss him.so really do u trust him enough to let him pass judgement on on anyone. he who kept his mouth shut when flo jo and marion jones and gatlin where killing the track with drugs.why didnt he speak out then. oh thats right they were americans.leave MR bolt alone and let him progress naturally. as he has been

    Victor Conte was right! Says:

    From http://www.theage.com.au

VICTOR Conte, the jailed mastermind of the Balco drugs scandal in the US, says he warned the World Anti-Doping Agency about a drugs supplier working with elite athletes and suggested eight months ago sending disguised drug testers to Jamaica.

The International Olympic Committee has not released test results from the track and field program, but samples from the opening night’s competition, including those of Jamaican 100 metres champion Usain Bolt, were expected soon. Bolt has been drug tested seven times since arriving in Beijing, the Jamaican team doctor, Herb Elliott, has said.

Conte said he had no evidence of doping by any of the winners but noted that when sprint times “begin falling like rain, questions arise”. He said this was especially so when the record breakers came from Caribbean nations such as Jamaica where there was no independent anti-doping agency.

Conte said Bolt’s 100 metres in 9.69 seconds was almost unbelievable. He said the time of the women’s 100 metres champion Shelly-Ann Fraser — a blazing 10.78 seconds — was an improvement of more than half a second in a year. “I have no knowledge that these individuals were involved in wrongdoing. All I know is that they and other athletes come from regions where minimal off-season testing is administered,” he said.

Conte wrote in the New York Daily News that former head of WADA Dick Pound stepped down weeks after being tipped off, including being given the drug supplier’s name, phone number and contacts. Pound was replaced by Australia’s John Fahey. Conte said those in WADA who conducted investigations and drug testing had not acted on the tip-off.

He said there was no routine off-season testing from October to January, when cheating athletes use steroids in combination with intensive weight training. Testing at major competitions and between grand prix meetings was ineffective.

Fahey had said on the eve of the Games it was critical that 100 metres winners were clean to preserve the integrity of the sport. He said Conte’s comments lacked credibility because he was a convicted criminal charged with distributing drugs.

    Jack P. Says:

Carl Lewis is one of the best track and field athletes to ever compete. He knows what is going on in the sport, and has always known what has gone on around him. He is the only one with the guts to speak up and ask the question. I applaud him for doubting Bolt. He is just saying what everyone else is thinking. Usain Bolt is a cocky show boat on the track, and he is crooked off of it. He cheats just like the rest of his teammates.

    Rodman Says:

They caught that guy Bukley right before the Olympics started, Sports Illustrated did the article linking the purchase of substances to other athletes on the team.

    john Says:

JeffM is so right about the “state of the art” testing in the USA.While SNation continues to live in ignorance about the testing that Jamaican athletes are subjected to.In case he did not follow the link in my post above,Bolt said he was tested out of competition so many times he has lost count. He and the other Jamaican athletes are being tested in and out of competition.Get off the myth that they are not.

Also just found out Carl improved from 10.67 in 1979 to 10.21 in 1980.That is even a greater improvement than Bolt’s 10.03 to 9.69.Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

    JeffM Says:

    SNation:

    1. Yes Justin Gatlin tested positive.Twice and he’s American

2.Again those you mention are Americans who made it to the Olympics even with the “superior” US off-season random testing , right?

3.You completely missed the point.Calling names never add power to arguments.I’m surprised you actually would think that anyone would attempt to do that :).Carl Lewis deserved to be called names , because he showed disrespect first, especially knowing he himself did test positive. He should be congratulating Bolt instead of spewing venom and trying to steal the limelight from someone who has achieved what he Carl Lewis will NEVER achieve.

What state of the art testing does the US have if it could let the likes of Marion Jones and Gatlin go as far as being called “Olympic Champions” and yet they were doping all along. Please…

Bolt is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.Isn’t that what American democracy advocates?

  10. 21
    SNation Says:

    Jeffm:

    1. Justin Gatlin did test positive. Twice. (one for a stimulant which he did not have a TUE; once for testosterone).

    2. As you know a systematic effort to overcome testing can beat the system (ala Jones, and Montgomery) if the tests are predictable or sloppy.

Thus your post supports the argument for random out of season dope testing.

    3. Calling Carl Lewis names does not add power to your argument, it simply adds a lack of respect.

Again, Jamaicans need to stop throwing up smoke screens, and start complying with state of the art testing.
