Usain Bolt
September 12th, 2008 filed in Olympics, Track and Field
Usain Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter who holds world and Olympic records in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, with times of 9.69 seconds and 19.30 seconds, respectively. He is the first man in history to break both world records at one Olympics, and the first man to win both the 100 and 200 meters events at the same Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984. His name and achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname “Lightning Bolt”.
Such dominate performance is cause for some to speculate about possible cheating by Usain Bolt. Bolt has denied taking performance-enhancing drugs and has not failed a drug test. Yet, his coach acknowledges, it will be impossible for Bolt to avoid skepticism given the sport’s clouded history. A number of Olympic champions, world champions and record holders have been stripped of their sprint medals, records and reputations, including Ben Johnson, Marion Jones, Justin Gatlin, Tim Montgomery and Kelli White.

Usain Bolt CHEATed in the Olympics
Chester Cheater
Usain Bolt competes for Jamaica, a country without a random drug testing policy. Drug tests are scheduled in advance and separated by months. This explains Usain Bolt’s superman like performances. Recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated, Carl Lewis had this to say about Bolt, “When people ask me about Bolt I say he could be the greatest athlete of all-time. But for someone to run 10.03 one year and 9.69 the next, if you don’t question that in a sport that has the reputation it has right now, you’re a fool. Period.” It sounds like one of the greatest athletes of all time is skeptical of Bolt’s performance. Lewis questions the Jamaican sprinting program in general, including the women, “Veronica Campbell-Brown lives in the United States and has been transparent and consistent. She won the worlds last year in the 100 meters and this year can’t even make the (Jamaican) team. Are you going to tell me that shouldn’t be questioned?” Lewis goes on to say, “People forget that I was the first one to speak out about Ben [Johnson], and I got crucified. A year later, I was a prophet. The athletes have to say, ‘No, this isn’t right.’ They know who’s on it. They need to step up.” Carl Lewis knows track and sprinting better than anyone, if he doesn’t trust it, neither should you.

Usain Bolt BEAT his competition in the Olympics
Billy Beater
Usain Bolt is a modern marvel of sports. He has set world records, and has raised the bar in the sport of sprinting. He has done so legally and cleanly. He has repeatedly been tested, including during the Olympics and he has come up clean every time. Bolt is 6′5″ and built for speed. His long stride allows him to cover more ground than his competitors, which gives him an advantage. It is similar to the physical advantages that Michael Phelps has. These advantages are natural, and not part of a doping regimen. The Jamaican Observer has an entire list of reasons that Usain Bolt and other Jamaican sprinters run fast, and none of them include cheating. Usain Bolt beat his competitors in the Olympics and is an International hero.
So what do you think, did Usain Bolt CHEAT, or did he BEAT his competitors?

Carl Lewis is now an irrelevant old fart and his comments are laced with with jealous and hate. We all know HE TESTED POSITIVE FOR BANNED SUBSTANCES and he does not have any platform to spew such venom. If the US drug testing system was so efficient, why then do we the Marion Jones,Tim Montgomery of this world? Then theres Gatlin…and Carl Lewis himself. WTF? As long as Bolt has never tested positive, he is innocent…and until someone explains WHY IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WHAT HE DID without taking roids, then theres no story here. Carl, please, just shut the hell up!

Considering 3 of the past world record holders in the 100M have drug-cheated there is reason to suspect anyone holding that record. It seems we have lost all perspective of a world record. Jesse Owens ran a 10.2(and timed) in the Berlin Olympics with the Nazis staring down on him. Can a young athlete today beat Jesse Owens by over 1/2 second in a 100M race?
Shoes, tracks, and training have improved. However who would win if Jesse Owens, Bob Hayes, and Carl Lewis line up against Bolt and 3 more elite sprinters of today? Do we really think the greatest sprinter of modern times — Owens — would lose to Powell, Gay, Dix, and Bolt? Not a chance.
The difference has to be something besides blocks and better spikes.

Carl Lewis is Jealous, he thinks Usain is taking drugs probably because fe cant imagine how he took the drugs and still was not able to run as fast or brake the records.
Well he did it Carl Lewis and anyone else with doubts so deal with it…

if bolt is on roids, so is every american who has even won gold in track and field history since the invention of steroids. as a matter of fact, they should just ban the usa from track and field all together for the outrageous past use of steroids.

People need to stop hating on Bolt and quit talking out of their asses about the achievements of the phenomenal young man! Bolt has been setting and breaking records since he was 14 years old and as for the idiots who are critisising Jamaica’s drug testing methods - do some research and stop repeating uncorroborated stories!!! Jamaica Anti-Doping Unit (JADU) is responsible for testing all athletes and prior to Beijing one of our athletes was pulled because he TESTED positive for a banned substance!! TESTED stupid people, it tests were NOT done here, how would that have been discovered? Carl Lewis is a typical American jealous jerk. He’s washed up and just hate to see other nations in the spotlight. His comment about being a “prophet” as it relates to Ben Johnson is laughable, ESPECIALLY since his prophetic gift didn’t detect the cheats from his own country - selective phophecy, perhaps? Anyway, it’s better to be envied than to be pitied so keep the hate going; it acts as motivation for us!!

Here’s the real problem with Lewis:
“SI.com: I was surprised to read IAAF President Lamine Diack recently say that Bolt winning three gold medals in Beijing was more impressive than you winning four in 1984 because he broke three world records and you only broke one with the relay team. Did you see that?
Lewis: Yes, and I sent him an e-mail. For him to make that judgment is wrong. He should talk about Usain on his own merits. Secondly, I said one of the problems in our sport is there is such an emphasis on records and here you are, the president of the federation, talking about records. The sport should be about competition.
You can compare us as sprinters, but the thing I am most proud of is that I did multiple events and I long-jumped. There is not a sprinter on the face of this Earth that can long-jump. I tell people all the time that I wasn’t a sprinter that long-jumped, I was a long-jumper that sprinted, and that’s a fact.”
